Rainbow House: House of Fun in London

Among some people, the inner child screams for release. Such people might live in London's Rainbow Home, designed by Ab Rogers Design in collaboration with DA Studio. The project presents an other worldly cartoon-like feel made for those young at heart. Bibulous colors and designs compete with oversized furniture and an indoor playground for attention in this multi-story private abode. Frenzy builds up after a few minutes of being surrounded by reflective surfaces: walls are lacquered white or mirrored, and everything shines to a high pitch. Even the floors seem to move with mesmerizing designs, easily causing the adult visitor a light punch to the equilibrium. Those who don't like roller coasters are about as likely to prefer this abode. Through an easy-to-miss covered hole in the upstairs master suite floor one can easily fetch cookies and milk by whisking down a curvy slide. Otherwise, one may transcend a spiral staircase that quickly and crazily shifts through a rainbow of colors. Google London Office

Okay London, it took a lot of restraint from us to not cover you during Olympics but we are not going to miss this! The shiny new London based Google Super HQ, designed by the talent at PENSON, is a great example of British pride with bold Union Jack flags spanning the walls.

Located at the Central St. Giles Building in Covent Garden, the 160,000sq.ft headquarters is home to both indoor and outdoor workplaces and meeting areas, a large gym and dance studio, cafés & restaurants, and a 200 person capacity event room that has been quirkily named the “Town Hall.”

The interior communal areas have been furnished in a fun style, reminiscent of cozy living rooms, complete with high-backed armchairs, scattered pillows and woolen pouffes in the rainbow of Google corporate colors, and clusters of small rocking chairs.

Natural timber floor boards, with Eco plywood perimeters and tooth converging floor finishes have been chosen so that the space will actually improve with age and use, developing its own patina.

Dozens of miniature lights illuminate the outline of the colorful Google logo over the reception area.

Up on the roof beyond the idea sharing zones that are hidden between hedgerows, and known as the “Secret Gardens”, balcony gardens and allotments have been set out so that Google staff are able to grow their own vegetables!

The rooftop offers inspirational panoramic views over the London cityscape.

Incredibly Beautiful Kensington House by SHH Architects

The Kensington House designed by SHH Architects under the supervision of ‘René Dekker is a vision in itself. The house includes a reception room, large formal dining room, family room, cinema, pool room and six bedrooms. Every room in this London townhouse is like a postcard with mesmerising details and offers generous living space. The challenge for SHH was to create a complete interiors scheme (something ‘Cream, off-white and funky’ was the brief) for the six storey, 1,114 sq m house and you got to say that they did a terrific job here. The design has also won the 4 Star Award for Best Interior Design at the Daily Mail UK Property Awards. [Via]

Beautiful Georgian house in London

A home is a place to relax, go crazy, meditate, play, sleep and what not! It hardly matters if it is small or big but if you find yourself lounging comfortably then you know you belong there.

Whether you adorn your walls with loud colors or ones that mesmerize you, place artifacts that belong to the civil war or have been picked up from the flea market and decorate it with expensive ornaments or ones you buy at exhibitions, your heart is where your home is!
