Tastefully Decorated Modern Style Villas Close To Nature

Tastefully Decorated Modern Style Villas Close To Nature

Photographer Oded Smadar, from Smadar Studio has made it his mission to capture the work of some of Israel's top architects. The villas featured here are at turns modern and rustic, cozy and sprawling, but each one is beautiful, unique and reflects both the talents of their architects and the personalities and tastes of their clients.
1 | Architect: DO Architecture
The first home in the collection is this beautiful single level building with a sprawling outdoor space.

2 | Architect: DO Architecture
Stone paths lead through the house and out into the various gardens where modern landscaping creates a calming atmosphere all around.

3 | Architect: DO Architecture
4 | Architect: DO Architecture
Care was taken in creating a pool that would not detract from the overall style of the home with a perfectly tiled lining and infinity edge.

5 | Architect: DO Architecture
Creatively designed lighting makes it easy to enjoy the outdoor space day or night.

6 | Architect: DO Architecture
Wide windows let in plenty of light during the day and make it look as though there is no end to the view.

7 | Architect: DO Architecture
Although the home only has one story, keeping with low furnishings from sofas to massive ottomans, everything seems taller and more spacious.

8 | Architect: DO Architecture
Curtains cover the windows for insulation in cooler weather or privacy at night.

9 | Architect: DO Architecture
A tall bookcase is a practical element that does not sacrifice when it comes to its modern design.

10 | Architect: DO Architecture
11 | Architect: DO Architecture
Large lamps offer much needed illumination in the reading area, but their oversized design is almost whimsical.

12 | Architect: DO Architecture
Anyone with a love for literature would swoon over this indoor reading room completely with cushy sofas and indoor hammock.

13 | Architect: Pivko Architect
The next home features continues the team’s tradition of modern simplicity that still allows for a comfortable living environment.

14 | Architect: Pivko Architect
The outdoor lighting in this home doesn’t stop with the lighting up the desk. It actually spreads upwards, giving a spotlight to the house itself.

15 | Architect: Pivko Architect
16 | Architect: Pivko Architect
With sofas lining every wall, there is no shortage of seating in this living area.

17 | Architect: Pivko Architect
The modern furnishing, complete with a grand piano, is a nice throwback, moving away from the television-focused seating area so many homes now insist upon.

18 | Architect: Pivko Architect
19 | Architect: Pivko Architect
Of course, it is easy to keep the living area free of media when you have your own personal screening room where you can retreat.

20 | Architect: Pivko Architect
The lucky family that lives here will never need to seek out a spa when their own personal bath, with soaking tub and separate waterfall shower, is its own luxurious retreat.

21 | Architect: Pivko Architect
Bringing art and personal style is essential for any design team. This modern sculpture draws more attention here than it would in any gallery.

22 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
Not every home captured by Studio Smadar is the same sleek modern shape.

23 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
This Asian-inspired house shares a calming atmosphere with the other designs, but the actual elements are quite different.

24 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
The front of the home boasts a private driveway with plenty of parking for entertaining and palm trees that channel a tropical island.

25 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
The stone frame on this amazing spa makes it a far cry from a standard backyard hot tub in terms of its elegance.

26 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
27 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
Inside, the design team has made use of an interesting and welcoming palette of warm, dark hues.

28 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
The massive columns featured in this photo are one of the most interesting elements, making the house look almost like a movie set from the 1940’s.

29 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
The massively high ceilings and hanging lights give traditional Asian design elements a modern twist.

30 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
31 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
The designers have split up a large, empty room using furniture, with smaller conversation nooks making the space much more inviting.

32 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
The modern kitchen is so sleek it barely seems a part of the same house, but the light fixture over the kitchen table hints at the overall theme.

33 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
34 | Architect: Micheal Azulay Studio
35 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
This next house combines some of the most impressive elements of the previous three with clean lines, plenty of white, and a spacious interior with high ceilings.

36 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
WHile low couches and sleek nest chairs are the ultimate in modern, the dangling light fixtures give the place its own Asian flair.

37 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
38 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
39 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
A shrine to Buddha along the outdoor garden path is a beautiful testament to the deepest held beliefs of the family who lives here.

40 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
By using elements like floor materials and a striking, freestanding fireplace to separate rooms, the house is allowed to be much more open.

41 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
A staircase that uses thin cables mimics the style of suspension bridge and bridges upstairs and down.

42 | Architect: Efrat Zilberman Architect
The bedrooms bring in natural materials from hardwood to wool to create a truly calm atmosphere.

43 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
This next home has a similar modern and welcoming feel and features.

44 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
WIthout as much space as some of the other efforts, every inch must be carefully considered.

45 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
Still, there manages to be enough room for an eight-person dining table that feels completely separate from the living area.

46 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
Concrete flooring gives the home a distinctly urban flavor.

47 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
And a warm and wide wooden island keeps the kitchen functional and stylish.

48 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
Once of the coolest features here is the suspended bar, which keeps bottles well out of the way, but still on display.

49 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
50 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
Once again, they are able to bring in contemporary art elements that really breathe life into the space.

51 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
52 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
53 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
A glass shower with multiple shower heads is the height of indulgent, but practical, luxury.

54 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
And an outdoor entertaining area is kept simple but cozy with irregular rock walls and greenery.

55 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
56 | Architect: Iris Avneri Dvir Architect
The massive outdoor dining table make it easy to eat al fresco anytime.

57 | Architect: DO Architecture
This apartment offers less in terms of square footage, but does not skimp on creative, unique design elements.

58 | Architect: DO Architecture
Of particular interest is the overhead lighting which draws the eye with its origami-style angles.

59 | Architect: DO Architecture
Even without much space, the furniture and flooring creates distinct areas, making the room seem much bigger.

60 | Architect: DO Architecture
And sleek cabinetry offers out of the way storage without little intrusion.

61 | Architect: DO Architecture
62 | Architect: DO Architecture
Floor-to-ceiling windows make the apartment bright and airy at any time, even in the bedroom.

More Tasteful Modern Villas

More Tasteful Modern Villas

In this article we are pleased to be able to feature even more designs from photographer Oded Smadar of Studio Smader. With their thoroughly modern taste and careful attention to design detail, these interiors are both beautiful and inviting, across the board and we couldn't resist giving this studio a back to back feature.
1 | Architect: DO Architecture
The exterior of this first modern home is sleek. The way the light beckons from the other side of the huge windows is immediately inviting.

2 | Architect: DO Architecture
Those massive windows slide open to create an easy flow from indoors to out.

3 | Architect: DO Architecture
The home’s reflecting pool is large, adding a focal point for the sloping yard while also functioning as a stylish border.

4 | Architect: DO Architecture
5 | Architect: DO Architecture
Inside, the home’s furnishings are well matched to one another without feeling too stiff.

6 | Architect: DO Architecture
Dark wood floors contrast with soft plush rugs and sofas.

7 | Architect: DO Architecture
The front entrance makes use of the same sliding window panes, making it difficult to distinguish nature from home.

8 | Architect: DO Architecture
A simple breakfast bar area gets light and air from surrounding windows while an outdoor dining set sits just beyond on a small patio nook.

9 | Architect: DO Architecture
Minimal furniture makes the house seem that much more open, but the occasional creative piece, like this plush chair, give the house personality.

10 | Architect: DO Architecture
The kitchen is narrow but long with spacious counters, including a gorgeous butcher block.

11 | Architect: DO Architecture
The woven wood door makes entering the home feel like entering a secret garden.

12 | Architect: Rina Doctor
This next home features some of the same low slung modern profiles, but overall has a much different atmosphere.

13 | Architect: Rina Doctor
Rather than a calming reflecting pool, this yard features enough space to swim.

14 | Architect: Rina Doctor
The beautiful entryway is shaded by plenty of greenery, giving it both privacy and vibrance.

15 | Architect: Rina Doctor
More furnishings and kincknacks lke stone vessels and mirrors make this home feel lived in and warm.

16 | Architect: Rina Doctor
A gleaming marble floor catches plenty of sunlight from the large windows and seems to lift the ceiling to massive heights.

17 | Architect: Rina Doctor
Classically styled chairs coupled with simple white sofas make this living area entirely practical but still stylish.

18 | Architect: Rina Doctor
19 | Architect: Rina Doctor
Outdoor furnishings are kept simple and minimal, lest the yard become cluttered.

20 | Architect: Tehilla Shelef Architect
This next home doesn’t have the same floor space as some of the others, but does make similar use of windows, and modern decor that is never fussy.

21 | Architect: Tehilla Shelef Architect
Sliding window panes let fresh air into the kitchen and dining area.

22 | Architect: Tehilla Shelef Architect
While durable outdoor furnishings let you choose where to sit on a whim.

23 | Architect: Tehilla Shelef Architect
White walls and a shiny stone floor make the house seem bigger while unique clustered light fixtures give it a bit of whimsy.

24 | Architect: Tehilla Shelef Architect
25 | Architect: Tehilla Shelef Architect
26 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
This large stone house has a feel that’s a bit reminiscent of a (very stylish) home in the American Southwest.

27 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
A reclaimed wood garden path is a perfectly unique touch.

28 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
Exposed ceiling beams give the large formal dining area a more rustic feel. The beams actually extend out over the patio for a very interesting visual.

29 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
The team has chosen furnishings within the same family but that don’t match exactly, which gives the space a certain class.

30 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
Antique luggage become furniture in this room fit for a wanderer.

31 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
The sliding doors to the outside are mimicked in the sliding interior doors that let light pass through, even when they are closed.

32 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
33 | Architect: Linenberg Rozen Architects
A custom pot rack is always a welcome site and ties together this spacious and beautiful kitchen.

34 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
This next home takes the large sliding window theme and pulls it up into the second story as well.

35 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
The home’s entry is carefully landscaped with mosses and colorful, native plants.

36 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
37 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
38 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
Including a nicely manicured tree that resembles an overgrown bonsai.

39 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
The living areas are also spacious with lots of attention paid to keep lines clean and simple.

40 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
Thought much of the furnishing choices are grey to beige, colorful light fixtures and art pieces add important splashes throughout the home.

41 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
Supple leather seating is plentiful while its simple design keeps the room uncluttered.

42 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
43 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
A dining table for twelve could be full every night in this beautiful home.

44 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
A fireplace built directly into a concrete wall is not only a feat of engineering, but makes a beautiful sight even when the fire is out.

45 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
46 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
Shelving is perfect for the display of small pieces, but tucked away enough so as not to be distracting.

47 | Architect: Liat Dankner Architect
48 | Architect: V Studio
Bringing wicked furniture indoors is a challenge but it works in this sunny living room.

49 | Architect: V Studio
50 | Architect: V Studio
Another big dining room for families that love to entertain, this table features a creative serving area at one end where there is no seating.

51 | Architect: V Studio
52 | Architect: Mikita Studio
It is always lovely when designers find a good way to include a television without giving it center stage in the design.

56 | Architect: Mikita Studio
Who doesn’t long for a huge, deep tub to wash away the day?
