4 Lofts That Whisk You Away to a Fabulous Life

4 Lofts That Whisk You Away to a Fabulous Life

Lofts are known for their tall ceilings, wide open spaces, and industrial details. But loft designs vary from the ultra modern to the eclectic, and the people who live in them transform these similar architectural spaces into designs that reflect their lives. So take a tour through these 4 lofts and get a peek inside the chic and sophisticated loft-lives of everyone from world travelers to ballerinas. It'll inspire you and leave you dreaming.

1 | Designer: Ilya Garbuzov
This eclectic loft was designed for a man who appreciates art, loves to travel, and adores his cat. There’s plenty of plush oversized seating for his feline friend which fits perfectly into this giant space.

2 |
We love how everything here is oversized. From the couches to the art, the windows, and the lamps. These massive pieces bring this lofty space back down to a cozier level.

3 |
This loft sits right up near the treetops, and we love how they’ve brought the outdoors in with these leafy plants by the windows. The greenery is also a great contrast to this beautiful Persian rug, and all the warm colors and woods scattered through the space.

4 |
This fireplace is incredibly beautiful. We love the spherical shape, how it creates a wonderful reading corner surrounded by bottles of wine, and how the cool metal contrasts with the fire. It’s a stunning piece of art that fits perfectly into this eclectic loft.

5 |
This loft is the perfect place to kick back with a strong drink, enjoy good company, and admire all that surrounds you. We bet there will be some pretty fun parties at this loft.

6 |
And if the inside didn’t convince you of that, this deck sure should. The hanging lights play on the whimsy of this eclectic loft, and the stunning woods bring you off to a far away exotic land. We love the contrast of the stark white an the woods, and how they’ve created privacy with the greenery around the sides.

7 | Visualizer: Pavel Alekseev
This loft was designed for a young creative family, and you can see that in all the creative design solutions and decisions. We love the metal fireplace and tv surround, and how they’ve mixed that with the warm handout wood storage underneath.

8 |
This place may look serious from the cold, gray, and modern design choices but it’s also whimsical in a modernist way. We love the mix of tweed, and patterns in the couch and how the entire loft looks futuristic.

9 |
Here you can see more traditional elements of a loft: tall ceilings, giant windows, and exposed beams and pipes. They’ve definitely played up these elements in this modern loft.

10 |
From here you can see those amazing windows, and the classic loft exposed brick. We love how they’ve played on this in their own way here, framing the brick in this dark metal that looks like supportive beaming. It ties into the rest of the space’s metal while mirroring the lines of the windows.

11 |
Finally, a pop of color! Yellow and gray is an incredible choice because they’re so opposite, and we love how the yellow they’ve chosen is inherently warm yet has a cool undertone that matches the gray perfectly.

12 |
These chairs are incredible. They’re whimsical and modern like the rest of the space. We love the curved edges, these vintage looking straps, and how the metal looks brushed and aged.

13 |
Two main spaces of the home are separated with different flooring. The gray, stamped and distressed concrete floor of the living room mirrors the industrial feel. But this colored, almost marble looking tile is a fun modern twist on something normally organic.

14 |
We love how the tiles are different colors. One color would have been enough of a surprise, but this myriad of colors is just the kind of ‘pop’ this home needs for a young creative family.

15 |
The bold colors against this very rusty and metal built in is quite the contrast — but opposites do attract.

16 |
These tiles make the room feel massive with their mostly white surface reflecting tons of natural light.

17 |
This is fun — from the colorful tiles, to the wall mural, to this statement piece of a lamp. This space is super modern, chic, and best of all fun.

18 |
We love the white-washed brick in this space. It carries the brick from the living room but at the same time gives it it’s own character.

19 |
No detail went unattended in this space. From the chairs we mentioned before, to those stools with the studs around the sides, and the kitchen cart that’s bright and yellow like the backsplash. This space is edgy, funky, and artsy from both afar and up close.

20 | Visualizer: Elena V Nedelcu
This giant loft was designed for a ballerina, and the space is the epitome of girly, shabby-chic. From the white on pink combination, to the antique details against the lofty and industrial structure, this space perfectly contrasts and compliments.

21 |
First off, the knotty wood with pink undertones is fabulous, and we love how this blush color is reflected in the rest of the space. This space is big and airy but has lots of layers, whether it’s the way the tables are staged or the dispersed antiques.

22 |
These incredible windows define this loft space. They’re not only massive, but they’e got tons of character. They’re wooden, white washed, and yet industrial despite their country-like makeover. They look old yet new, just like the rest of the space.

23 |
This loft is big enough for a dancer to push all that beautiful furniture to the side and dance the night away. We love how the space, while scattered in treasures, feels open and filled with possibilities.

24 |
Everything to the smallest detail was thought of here. Like this wonderful sculpture which once again plays on the airy feel of the room, to the blush tinted accents.

25 |
Up close you can see the grainy, knotty, pink wood that defines this loft.

26 |
With big open lofts you often have to define and create the spaces you need. This dressing area is a great example of doing just that, and you could do this yourself with a separator to create a reading nook or even a little home office.

27 |
The bedroom part of the loft is just as dreamy as the rest. That bed looks like the perfect place for a ballerina to kick back and relax after a day on her feet. We also love how the ceiling comes down here, creating a cozy nook in an otherwise lofty and large space.

28 | Visualizer: Tharik Mohammed
This space looks like it was designed for a man who appreciates the finer things in life while still wanting to remain comfortable. That’s reflected in his wardrobe of leather jackets, and pieces like that big armchair covered in leather, and bolstered up by weathered wood. It looks old yet modern and regal.

29 |
Black, gray, wood, and pops of white are the theme of this space. We love the dark gray cabinets against the exposed plywood walls, and how they’ve backlit the dark backsplash.

30 |
The use of mirrors in a space are great to reflect light, or bring the outside in — just like they’ve done here. The mirrors add greenery from the garden to this very metallic and otherwise dark space.

31 |
The contrast of the stunning green and these cool grays is fabulous, and we love how the floor to ceiling windows bring that right inside from this angle. The skylight in the bathroom is also a clever solution to a room that’s otherwise cut off from the light in the rest of the loft.

32 |
Exposed plywood doesn’t have to look messy, intact it looks quite chic here despite it’s low budget.

33 |
And the exposed plywood was also used for the loft to tie the spaces together, and add a bit of organicness and color to the dark corner.

A Cute Small Home with Beautiful Features

A Cute Small Home with Beautiful Features

This fabulous tiny gem of a home had us grinning in admiration of every aspect of its perfect little layout – great things really do come in small packages! Designed for a project in Moscow, Russia, by INT2architecture, the 45 square meter single space studio home has been divided into a living room, kitchen and screened-off bedroom area, along with a few other compact surprises along the way...
1 |
The small open plan space has a white shell that is lifted with pretty pastel accents in each neat area.

2 |
3 |
The sleep zone has been clearly segregated from the open plan layout by having its floor level raised up on a wooden platform that conceals huge storage drawers to hold the bulkiest items of the home, such as extra pillows and seasonal blankets.

4 |
5 |
The few partitions that have been introduced to the home were ‘thickened’ in order to utilize the volumes as built-in closets for the hallway and bedroom. Curtains were used to screen of the wardrobe rather than doors, to save space when open.

6 |
7 |
The simple white kitchen has been brought to life with unusual tiles, and the vertical space used to its fullest with the installation of extra tall banks of wall units.

8 |
9 |
A bar area has been devised as the dividing wall between the lounge and kitchen areas, complete with quirky blackboard feature wall and flip-up bar surface.

10 |
11 |
There is a interior ‘balcony’ where plants can be housed, and where an ingenious–and sweetly minuscule–dining area has been created with modular banquette style seating that is made from repainted army boxes, which also come in handy as extra storage containers. A fold-away table completes the eating area when in use, or lies flat to the wall at other times of the day to allow the seats to be utilized without obstruction.

12 |
13 |
14 |
The small bathroom is decorated with unusual artwork and eye-catching scrabble style tiles to draw attention away from its limited size.

Clever cutaways create irregular windows into the storage spaces of this kitchen, along with a series of recesses dedicated to an army of glass jars that are filled with dried cooking ingredients that not only keep culinary delights within easy reach, but brings color and texture to an otherwise neutral design.

2 |
This is a perfect setup for neat freaks-or for wine and coffee, connoisseurs! And if you are that sort of a person don’t forget to check out our post on unique wine racks and holders.

Here, a whole wall has been dedicated to open shelving to display glassware, cookbooks and candelabra, along with a number of decorative vases to keep the overall image highly designed and carefully thought out. The long-line shelves also visually connect the kitchen island to the adjacent dining area for a cohesive look, which allows the display area to serve both rooms.

A Designer Couple’s Home

A Designer Couple’s Home

Robert and Cortney Novogratz have more than one reason to be famous. Besides being self-taught designers they have 7 kids all under the age of 13! Well, actually it is not just that; while coping up with the battalion, they manage to work on their design projects and also star in a reality television series!

Needless to say, the house is massive, with several rooms amongst which include a gym, a basketball court and spaces that show plenty of personality. The couple’s bedroom has an Indian style bed, with paintings and a life-size limited edition chair. The house sports a mixture of styles and a variety of curios. (Check out the spacecraft like seating in the bedroom). Overall this place looks like a treat to live in. The couple lives a high life, are raising their kids with style and it shows.

A Modern Eclectic House Tour

A Modern Eclectic House Tour

Who doesn’t like touring a cool house? Check out these fabulous images of a beautiful eclectic home in London photographed by 1st Option agency. Aside from the lovely job they did photographing this delightful space, its pretty clear that this is not your typical cookie cutter home! The family has personalized every space with a different vibe and color concept of it’s own. Follow us while we walk through…

This open space plan which blends kitchen, living and dining space keeps all these areas separate but seamlessly situated. It’s important to respect every function in a large open space for what it is and allow it to make it’s own statement.

The light gray counter top and cabinets subtly introduce significance to the space while letting your eye lead you through the whole space at a pleasing pace.

Also, by hanging a huge antique mirror on the far wall, they created a focal point in a bare corner for unexpected charm and color by reflecting the accent wall which ties the room together nicely.

This exciting dining space is rich with pops of vibrant color and and an unusual chandelier resembling ceiling strung light bulbs. Definitely a conversation starter, which is a nice element in a dining space!

The living room keeps the same color scheme but has a more calming air about it than the dining area while possessing the same playful sophistication. They tied the spaces together with red-toned elements in the art, fabric, fresh flowers and practical objects which make it feel lived in and personalized!

The white walls serve the wonderful purpose of allowing the objects displayed to do the story-telling. Things collected from travels and sparingly planted around the house will add charm to your home and invite trips down memory lane…

This blue slate accent color does wonders for the fireplace wall, which is naturally a focal point and harmoniously coordinates with the other gray and red accents in the room.

The build-in niches in the wall add dimension to the architecture and by painting them white, slowly breaks your eye away from the accent wall and leads you back to the default wall color.

This modern bathroom had a lot of character because the red accessories pop against the dark sophisticated gray tile and a more traditional scalloped roman shade adds a nice contrast to this otherwise linear space.

Again, fresh flowers make any space come alive!

Although this is clearly a little girl’s room, the pink jacquard wallpaper print makes it transitional for a more grown up but fun look when she’s ready for the next phase of her life.

Wallpaper is a great way to warm and dress up a small basic guest room.

This master bed’s headboard is substantial and balanced by the nooks on either side of the bed which are decorative additions to the custom built-in night tables! So clever…
