Apple’s Headquarters [New Pictures & Video]

Way back in June 2011 we brought you early screen grabs from the presentation of Apple's Spaceship Inspired Future Cupertino Offices, and today we are tantalizing your tastebuds again with Apple's updated images of the headquarters. The four story extravaganza, thought to be pegged for completion in 2016, has allegedly been taken on by Norman Foster Architects, with Arup cited for consulting on engineering, OLIN for landscape architecture, and Davis Langdon for construction. The proposal for this visionary architecture was also the last public appearance by Apple's late cofounder, Steve Jobs, who oversaw the design of the building, becoming part of the amazing legacy he leaves behind.

It will house 13,000 employees during their working day and is set to revolutionise the way the groundbreaking company runs it’s operations; all this whilst sticking to an eco-friendly outlook with its implementation of green technology and renewable energy, courtesy of Apple’s natural gas facility with a back-up electricity grid.

Glazed walls allow natural light to flood into the workplace, creating an uplifting flow of sunshine.

Inside the campus, the clear glazed theme continues across the mezzanine walkways to keep the interior feeling open.

A lofty cafeteria provides the workers with an airy space to eat and exchange ideas.

The property is rumored to be 2.8 million square feet.

The pathway to a pavilion in which to receive members of the press at future Apple events. From this glassy receiving hall, visitors will be invited to descend into an underground corporate auditorium.

The outer ring of the building encircles a beauty spot, with serene landscaping.

The gargantuan campus includes multi-level and sub-level parking garages to satisfy the parking needs of its many staff members. or for those who prefer not to drive, there is a corporate transit center to receive buses.

Apple Store In Paris

Located in the Carrousel du Louvre, Apple’s first store in Paris was inaugurated after much anticipation. Mac enthusiasts waited days in advance to get a glimpse of their favorite brand opening close to them. Blame it on the products inside or the chic interiors, the buzz this store generated surpassed other store openings from around the world. Much like its products, Apple’s exquisite design taste shows through in its stores too.

The photographer, Roy Zipstein who has been with Apple for the last five years, photographed Apple stores from around the world. If the country has anything to do with this, we don’t know, but he says his most memorable Apple store shoot till date has been in Paris.

A complete treat for Mac and design enthusiasts alike, the store keeps us puzzled with the question, Will it feature in the next Dan Brown novel?

Apple’s Spaceship Inspired Future Cupertino Offices

Earlier this week, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced plans for a spaceship-like new office campus in Cupertino, California that would hold up to 12,000 Apple employees and completely revamp the way the company operates.

Jobs presented the Cupertino City Council with plans for the four-story, eco-friendly offices reportedly designed by world-renowned Norman Foster Architects. The new offices were designed with green technology and renewable energy in mind, and will operate utilizing Apple’s natural gas facility and an electricity grid as back-up. Parking would be conveniently located below the building.

Details of the campus are sketchy at best and the following screen captures from the original presentation are the only known available images of this project.

Apple’s Beautiful Retail Stores

In 2000, Apple (under Steve Jobs) decided they needed to completely rethink their retail strategy. They no longer wanted to be dependent on other retailers to sell their products and yearned to offer customers a unique experience. For this they put together a team of retail/architecture experts and embarked on a journey to design the perfect store. It was much like designing a product - they built a prototype first and iterated designs until they were happy. Teams involved in the design of Apple's retail stores around the globe now include Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, Eckersley O'Callaghan, Eight Inc., Gensler, and ISP Design, Inc., together with Apple's in-house design team. Though Apple's decision to build their own stores was viewed as a gamble in 2001 it is now considered as one of the success stories of the industry. These stores now epitomize Apple and are spread out around the globe.

Mac Creator, Mac Setups and a MacWorld Cover Time Lapse

Okay here is some trivia : Who is Jonathan Ive?



Well, you may not have heard of his name, but it is highly unlikely for you to have not come across his creations. He is the Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple. Renowned as one of the best product designers on the planet with one heck of a portfolio that includes the iMac, PowerBook G4, MacBook, unibody MacBook Pro, iPod and iPhone, Ive designs almost exclusively for Apple. In fact, the only instance of him recently working out of Apple is when he offered help to Pixar Studios in designing the female robot character Eve in the movie Wall-E. Even then, the word is that Mr. Jobs was not too keen on leasing out his design overlord to a company that is actually quite close to Apple.



That is enough trivia about the Mac and its creators, now let’s take a look at some work space environments made beautiful by these machines.
